An End of Summer Recap

With labor day comes the unofficial end of summer. Although I didn’t spend too much time away from the shop, I did manage to take my family on a few trips, while taking several “staycations”.

I don’t know how people manage taking small children on airplanes, so we avoided it completely. Instead, we took a trip to Grandpa’s house in central Illinois. To break up the trip, we stayed a night in downtown St. Louis. The area was completely packed. It turns out they were about to kick off Fair St Louis. Although we were stuck fighting crowds we weren’t expecting, we were treated to a spectacular fireworks show right outside our hotel room window.

Later on, in July, my sister and her family were able to visit us from Boston. A few of you had the extreme pleasure of meeting my brother-in-law and his thick… THICK Boston accent.

We made our annual trip to Kauffman to root on my Boston Red Sox.

My son had his first day of Preschool and my daughter had her first day of Kindergarten.

Finally, we rounded off the summer with a trip to Prairie Fire. My daughter got to hold a giant hissing cockroach… I passed on holding it.

I hope your summer was a great one! I’m glad to see the hot, humid weather go and welcome the cooler autumn breeze with open arms.
